5 Reasons I’m Choosing Not to Drink And Why You Might Be Feeling the Same Pull

There’s been a quiet shift happening in me—one that’s been growing louder over time.

And while it may not seem revolutionary on the outside, it’s been deeply transformational for how I show up in my body, my relationships, my purpose, and my sense of self.

I’ve chosen to stop drinking alcohol.

Not because of a rock bottom.

Not because of a label.

But because… it no longer feels aligned.

If you’ve been feeling a similar nudge lately—like alcohol just doesn’t fit your frequency anymore—I want to share five deeply personal reasons that might reflect something back to you.

1. I’m Choosing Connection Over Coping

There was a time when I reached for a glass of wine at the end of the day as a way to decompress, to take the edge off, to signal a moment of relief. But slowly, I started to notice that what I thought was helping me connect… was actually disconnecting me.

From my emotions.

From the present moment.

From my intuition.

From my joy.

I no longer want to manage life—I want to be in it, fully present and fully alive.

2. I Want My Energy to Stay Clear

As someone who lives and teaches through the lens of energetic alignment, I began to really feel the effects of alcohol in my system. The brain fog. The irritability. The disrupted sleep. The way it pulled me out of rhythm with myself.

Even a single glass of wine had a ripple effect that lasted days.

And honestly, I love my clarity too much to keep trading it away for a temporary escape.

3. I’ve Worked Too Hard to Keep Self-Sabotaging

There comes a moment in your healing where the things that once felt like a treat now feel like a betrayal.

That’s what alcohol became for me. I’ve done so much inner work—emotionally, physically, spiritually—and I started to notice how drinking nudged me back into patterns I thought I had healed.

The loop of overthinking.

The low-level shame.

The “off” feeling I couldn’t quite name.

Eventually, I said enough. I’ve come too far to let one glass undo what I’ve been building.

4. I Want My Joy to Be Real

There’s joy that’s chemically enhanced.

And then there’s joy that comes from being fully present in your body, fully grounded in your peace, fully alive in your purpose.

That’s the kind of joy I’m after now.

I don’t want to fake it. I don’t want to hype it up. I want to feel it, live it, remember it the next morning, and know it was mine.

If you’ve been wondering what your happiness might look like without alcohol, that curiosity is sacred. Honor it.

5. I’m Ready for a Higher Standard of Living

This isn’t about restriction. It’s about expansion.

I’m not just removing something—I’m making space.

For clearer mornings.

For deeper relationships.

For embodied joy.

For the woman I’ve worked so hard to become.

During Day 11 of the 21-Day Breaking Free Challenge, I had a powerful moment of clarity. I connected with my future self—and I realized she’s already within me. I’ve done the work. I’ve built the foundation. And now, I’m not going backwards.

Only forward.
